Fremantle Torchlight Prison Tour
On Friday nite I went along with Rosemary, Jake and Kim to visit Rosemary's daughter, Alicia who is a tour guide at the Fremantle Prison. The prison has been decommissioned since 1991 and have been a historical site ever since. This tour is the torchlight tour and it is meant to be very eerie!!!!!
This is the front enterance to the prison. Looks scary doesn't it.
This is the capel in the prison ground. This the only building that has no bars in the windows. To gain visitation rights to the capel, the prisoners have to be on their best behaviour.
This is one of the restored prison division that housed the inmates. Extensive restoration have been done to retain its former glory. Part of the enterance ticket goes to the restoration funds. The prison is pretty eerie and also Alicia the tour guide keeps telling us about hauntings and spirits and what people has seen throughout the ages.
There were quite big group of teenagers with us and most of the time, the girls were screaming when we heard bumping and thumping sound coming from the prison doors and walls. Most places we went to was dark so we had to shine torches to see where we were going. I really enjoyed it. One part of the prison there were wiring netting to stop the prisoners from hurling themselves from the top level to the concrete ground. Whilst we were there, a dummy was flunged from above and landed on the netting. Boy did the girls "pissed" themselves. I thought I nearly went deaf with their screams. What a laugh.
I called the dummy "Sven" the prisoner!!! I even shined the torch on the floor where the girls were standing in case they did literally 'pissed' themselves. Hahahahah, what chickens!!!!!
This is one of the paintings that the prisoners painted on the walls of the prison to make the place a little bit more cheery. Hmmm.....
This is one of the many prison door to the cells in the division. It really creaks when you open it. And the cell is small. It makes you think twice about commiting a crime. It is just not worth it!!!
Overall I really enjoyed the tour. It wasn't scary enough for me but I think the other girls thought so otherwise. Ah well....
